Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi, an Romanian gymnastics instructor who later became the coach for Comaneci who first came across Comaneci at the age of six. Her first competition was in the National Junior Championships in where she placed 13th in 1969. In the year 1970, she was crowned champion. At her first international competition, which was an Olympic-style junior preolympic competition for nations in the Communist bloc, she won 3 gold medals. And in 1973 and 1975, she won crowned all-around Junior Champion. In 1975, she won 4 gold and 1 silver medal in her debut senior international contest. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European champion. She was the first woman ever to successfully perform a backwards double salto after dismounting from an unbalanced parallel bar. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. In her teens Carol Wayne started working in the entertainment industry performing as figure skater. Together with her younger sister Nina Wayne she was part of a traveling show called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne born 6 September 1942 Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her career in the entertainment business as a teenager. In her early years she was a figure skater on the show Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating performance.
